ROLLA - SUMMER 2007 – The PCRMC Sleep Lab has recently expanded operations to include weekend testing. As the demand for sleep studies in Phelps and the surrounding counties continues to grow, the Sleep Lab is set to expand services of sleep testing to seven days per week. Starting July 27, patients in the area will now have an opportunity to receive sleep testing not only during the week but also on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. “It’s our goal to reduce the amount of time patients have to wait in order to receive sleep testing” says Jared England, B.A., R.R.T., Respiratory Services Director at PCRMC. The PCRMC Sleep Lab is now offering Maintenance of Wakefulness Testing (MWT). This test is designed to measure the effectiveness of sleep related breathing treatment. The MWT is also very useful in determining daytime alertness of airline pilots and semi drivers who after undergoing a formal sleep study with treatment may be required to pass the MWT in order to return to full work duties. For more information, call the Sleep Lab at (573) 458-7650 or see your primary care physician for a referral.
