Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Phelps County Regional Medical Center offers Phase II and Phase III cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. Our skilled and caring staff help patients gain strength, function and vitality through specialized rehabilitative processes.

Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation: This phase is an outpatient, medically supervised program that is typically appropriate for patients who have been discharged from a hospital 1-3 weeks prior to enrollment.

This comprehensive program includes:

  • Electrocardiography monitoring
  • Medical evaluation
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Prescribed exercise
  • Education
  • Counseling 2 – 3 times per week for up to 18 weeks. (Not to exceed 72 sessions within a 36 week period)

Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation: This phase continues with the same comprehensive program and includes weight and blood pressure checks. During this period patients are no longer monitored through electrocardiography.

Phase II & III Pulmonary Rehabilitation: Pulmonary Rehabilitation is designed to monitory pulmonary risk factors and help patients learn to better cope with their disease. This comprehensive program includes:

  • Medical evaluation
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Smoking cessation aid
  • Prescribed exercise
  • Education
  • Counseling 2 times per week for 15 weeks (Not to exceed 30 sessions within a 52 week period)
