About one in eight women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime. Less than 50 percent of women in PCRMC’s 6-county service area receive their yearly mammogram despite the potential increased health outcomes that follow early detection. The American Cancer Society recommends yearly mammograms starting at age 40 or earlier if there is an immediate family history of breast cancer.
