Support for Mothers

Childbirth Education is for expectant mothers after 20 weeks of pregnancy. A support person is encouraged to attend with you.

Childbirth Education Class covers the following topics:

  • Basic information about pregnancy
  • Danger signals in pregnancy
  • Stages of labor and delivery
  • Breathing and relaxation techniques
  • Cesarean birth
  • Medical options and epidurals
  • Newborn care and nutrition
  • Breastfeeding

2017 Prenatal Classes-Rolla 

Location: Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Private Dining Room 2

Time: 9:00am-3:00pm

Course: Includes information on nutrition in pregnancy, discomforts of pregnancy (what’s happening to your body), substance abuse, why not to smoke, drink or use drugs during pregnancy, signs of pre-term labor and what to do if this occurs, safe sleep, and SIDS prevention. Door prizes provided.

 

Infant/Toddler Safety Class - Daytime Classes

Location: Phelps/Maries County Health Department, 200 North Main, Suite G-51, Rolla

Time: 1:00-3:30pm

Dates: March 10, July 14, November 10

Course: Includes signs of illness, health tips, nutrition for infants (introducing foods), childproofing the home, nurturing and learning your baby’s cues, car seat and crib safety, growth and development for toddlers, nutrition and picky eaters, health and safety tips (including poison control, choking prevention, and home safety), nurturing and discipline, toilet training and other routines. Door prizes provided.
