Mary Graham, M.D. Reappointed as Cancer Liaison Physician for the Commission on Cancer

ROLLA – SPRING 2007 - Mary Graham, M.D., medical director of Radiation Oncology at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, has been re-appointed as a Cancer Liaison Physician (CLP) for the Commission on Cancer (CoC).

The CoC is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.

CLPs are volunteer physicians responsible for providing the leadership and direction to establish, maintain and support their facility's cancer program. They are charged with the task of spearheading CoC activities at the facility and community level. CLPs are a required component of CoC approved cancer programs and serve a three-year term with eligibility to serve an unlimited number of terms.

CLPs are leaders of the cancer program, someone who will support the facility's efforts in complying with and maintaining the CoC's standards, facilitate activities with the interests of the cancer patients, facility, community and dedicated to improving the quality of care delivered to a cancer patient.

Dr. Graham’s appointment is for three years, effective January 1, 2007 through January 1, 2010.

PCRMC’s Cancer Committee includes: Dr. Graham, Edward Downey, D.O., chairman; and Yaqoob Ali, M.D., physical quality assurance coordinator.
