Amount: $750 per year; potentially renewable each year of students’ course of study with maintenance of ‘C’ average and membership in the Missouri Nurses Student Association (MoNSA).

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Recipient must be a resident of Crawford, Dent, LaClede, Phelps or Pulaski County or have a home there.
2. Student must attend a Missouri school of nursing.
3. The student must be enrolled in the school of nursing.
4. Student must pursue a course of instruction leading to an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN).
5. For scholarship renewal, the current recipient must submit MoNSA membership card and transcript to be considered.
6. If the student voluntarily terminates the course of nursing studies prior to completion, he or she is required to reimburse District 17 for that year’s scholarship.

Application Procedure:

1. Student must compose a one page letter addressing:
   
   1. Reasons for choosing professional nursing as a career
   2. Prior experience in the health care field
   3. Goals in professional nursing
   4. Financial need
   5. Commitment to professional responsibilities, (i.e., Missouri Nurses Student Association membership and activities or other professional organizations.)
   6. Student’s name and address, including county of residence, and the name and address of the School of Nursing, in which they are enrolled.

3. Deadline for submission of applications: August 1, 2005

Recipient will be selected by August 15, 2005, and money forwarded to the school for the Fall Semester expenses.

The recipient will be introduced to the members of District 17 at the September meeting (First Thursday in September) if student is available.
