Purpose And Objectives
The purpose and objectives of the Phelps County Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Allied Health Careers Scholarship is established as follows:

1. To offer financial assistance to students training in their chosen allied health care career.
2. To contribute to the health care and therefore the general welfare of the citizens of Phelps County by making possible the training and encouragement to return to Phelps County Regional Medical Center or Phelps County for employment.
3. To render valuable support to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center by furnishing financial assistance to allied health career students and encouraging their return to positions on the above-mentioned hospital staff.

The Program

1. The recipient of the scholarship may attend an approved health career program of their choice.
2. The scholarship shall be applied to actual charges made by the school or program of choice, but does not include transportation or personal expenses. The amount of the scholarship will depend upon the program selected and the amount of funds available.
3. An individual scholarship shall not exceed $1,000.00.

Selection of Candidates

1. The Selection Committee shall be composed of the following persons: The Auxiliary President, Second Vice-President and General Treasurer of same hospital; The Director of Volunteer Services of same hospital; others appointed.
2. It shall be the duty of the Selection Committee to receive applications, investigate the qualifications and character of the applicants, and select the candidates who will be awarded the scholarships. The candidate’s ability, dedication and financial need shall be primary factors to be considered by the Selection Committee.
3. Applications for the scholarship will be received by the Selection Committee. If there are no scholarship applications received within designated time frame, the Selection Committee reserves the right to receive and award scholarships outside of designated time period.

Rules and Policies

1. The Director of Volunteer Services of Phelps County Regional Medical Center shall be available as consultant for the dissemination of information about the scholarship program to any potential candidate seeking such information. The Educational Services and Human Resources Departments of same hospital will have available applications for same scholarships.
2. Before making formal application for a scholarship, each candidate shall apply to and be accepted by a recognized school in the program of his/her choice.
3. Each candidate shall appear before the Selection Committee for a personal interview, when possible. The candidate shall provide written evidence of acceptance into his/her program of choice from the same school, and an application for a scholarship as prescribed by the Selection Committee.
4. If selected for a scholarship, a scholarship recipient shall agree to return to Phelps County within one year of graduation or completion of said program, for employment in the allied health field by any employer within Phelps County for a minimum of one year. If positions are available, seeking employment at Phelps County Regional Medical Center is encouraged.
5. In the event a scholarship recipient, for any reason, fails to complete the prescribed course of training for which the scholarship was awarded, the recipient shall repay in full all monies expended by the Fund within one year of termination from the program.
6. In the event a scholarship recipient returns to fulfill the employment obligation as set forth above, but for any reason fails to secure a position at Phelps County Regional Medical Center or in Phelps County, no repayment of scholarship monies shall be required.
7. In the event a scholarship recipient returns to fulfill the employment obligation as set forth above, but for any reason fails to work the full period of one year as required, then the recipient shall repay in full all monies expended by the fund within one year of termination from employment.
8. An applicant who has previously received a scholarship from the PCRMC Auxiliary will not be eligible for any additional scholarship.
