Patient Financial Services

Phelps County Regional Medical Center is committed to caring for patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year –regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. Every day, PCRMC treats people who lack health insurance or can’t afford to pay for quality health care unless they receive financial assistance.

PCRMC provides necessary health care at no charge or at a reduced charge to those who meet the financial need requirements. Financial assistance is generally for people who do not have other financial resources available, such as insurance, government programs, or regular income.

To be considered for financial assistance, the patient must answer questions related to his/her income and assets, as well as provide documentation of the income and assets. PCRMC verifies the patient’s income and assets based on the Federal Poverty Guidelines in order to provide a fair financial assistance distribution system. Before the financial assistance application can be processed, all income, assets and credit status are verified to determine the monthly payment schedule that will best fit the individual.

A patient may be considered for financial assistance if:

  • Their total family income is 300% or less of the Poverty level.
  • All efforts to obtain third-party coverage (Insurance, Cobra, Worker’s Compensation), as well as assistance from local, state or federal poverty programs are exhausted.
  • Total out-of-pocket medical expenses during the past year would reduce the individual’s annual income to 300% or less of the Poverty level.
