Basic Life Support Health and Wellness Childbirth Education Support Groups
| Heartsaver First Aid/CPR - Registration required | | This American Heart Association program teaches rescuers the knowledge and psychomotor skills they need to recognize emergencies and render first aid. It emphasizes accident prevention and prepares participants to provide temporary assistance until medical help arrives. Recommended for the layperson requiring a credential. |
| CPR For Family and Friends - Registration required | | This program teaches rescue skills in infant/child CPR and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction. |
| Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers - Registration required | | The BLS Healthcare Provider Course teaches CPR skills for helping victims of all ages (including doing ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen); use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). American Heart Association 2-year certification. |
| Basic Life Support (BLS) Renewal - Registration required | | The BLS recertification course is for individuals that are currently BLS certified. |
| EKG - Registration required | | This program teaches arrhythmia interpretation with fundamentals of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system and the role of the electrocardiograph in patient assessment. Payment is due 30 days before class. Class includes five weekly sessions. |
| Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Basic Course - Registration required | | The American Heart Association's Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support two-day course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in or out of hospital. Through the ACLS course, providers will enhance their skills in the treatment of the adult victim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies. ACLS emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation. |

| Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Registration required | | The goal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course is to provide the learner with information needed to recognize infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest and the cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock or cardiopulmonary arrest. |
| Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Renewal - Registration required | | The PALS one-day recertification course is for individuals that are currently PALS certified. |
| TNCC (Trauma Nursing Care Course) - Registration required | | This is a two-day course sponsored by the Emergency Nurses Association. The purpose of TNCC is to present core-level knowledge, refine skills and build a strong foundation for trauma nursing. |
| Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC) Renewal - Registration required | | The TNCC one-day recertification course is for individuals that have completed the TNCC two-day course. |
| Issues in Gerontology - Registration required | | Issues in Gerontology is an ongoing series of workshops that will be offered throughout the year examining the varied issues in the field of gerontology to assist in developing a better understanding of the aging process and improve our care of and service to older persons. These programs are developed in concert with our NICHE initiatives. NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders) is a program developed through the John A. Hartford Foundation Institute of Geriatric Nursing based at New York University College of Nursing. Topics are announced monthly. |
| Happy for No Reason - Registration required | | Based on the best-selling novel, “Happy for No Reason: 7 Steps to Being Happy from the Inside Out” by Marci Shimoff, this workshop addresses barriers to personal happiness and provides participants with a framework for taking ownership of their happiness. |
| GED Preparation - Free | | Free instruction to individuals who would like to obtain their GED. |
| English as a Second Language - Free | | Foreign-born individuals who would like to improve their English language skills are encouraged to register for this class. Different levels of instruction are provided. |
| Car Seat Safety Check - Registration required | | Certified car seat technicians perform free car seat evaluations. Technicians ensure that all children are properly restrained in the correct restraint system for their age and size. |
| Safe Sitter Clinic - Registration required | | For boys and girls ages 11-13. Learn how to handle unexpected situations that might arise in caring for young children. Learn the business aspect of babysitting and receive information on child development. |
| Childbirth Education - Times and Locations available upon request | | Childbirth class, Newborn Care, and Infant Child Care and Safety classes are available. Please call (573) 458-7397 for more information. |
| Alzheimer’s Support Group - Resources and education | Support group provides vital links to other caregivers and an opportunity to learn more about Alzheimer’s Disease and ways to cope.

| Breastfeeding Support Group - Resources and education | This support group provides opportunity for breastfeeding moms to meet and share information. For more information, please call 458-7353.

| Cancer Support Group - Resources and education | Separate groups providing support for cancer patients and the families and caregiver.
Location: Radiation Oncology reception room

| Diabetes Support Group - Resources and education | Support group forms a bridge between formal health care and self-management. By gathering people with common concerns, goals and interests, members feel less isolated.
Location: Private Dining Rooms 1 & 2

| Parkinson's Support Group - Resources and education | Support group assist those with Parkinson’s disease, their family, caregivers and care partners in adapting more positively to the physical, emotional and social changes associated with Parkinson’s disease.
